3 key insights from Kim Huybrecht
The power of connecting communication
Kim passionately advocates for the integration of connecting communication (also known as nonviolent communication) in corporate environments. This approach involves considering both your own and others’ needs and feelings. She believes that fostering such communication can drive significant changes within organizations, improving workplace interactions and overall corporate culture.
L&D as a catalyst for cultural change
L&D is a powerful catalyst for driving cultural transformation within organizations. At Proximus, L&D is strategically integrated into a comprehensive leadership development framework designed to develop leaders at all levels. The company offers a range of programs, including “Engage,” “Empower,” and “Enlight,” tailored to the needs of emerging, experienced, and senior leaders, respectively. The “Leadership Booster” is a notable addition, which can focus on topics such as “connecting communication” to promote a more collaborative and empathetic culture. This strategic approach ensures that L&D not only develops individual leaders but also contributes to broader cultural change within the company.
Addressing employees’ needs for program success
For an L&D program to be successful, it must address the specific needs and challenges encountered by employees. Through conversations with leaders, Kim discovered they faced challenges in connecting with their employees, often struggling with typical leadership challenges like giving feedback, decision making, (team) conflict, workload and well-being. This led to the development of workshops focused on connecting communication. Since their launch, the workshops have attracted over 1000 participants. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with leaders noting significant improvements in their communication abilities, connection and team interactions.
