Employee well-being

Your employees are at the heart of your business.

But many are struggling right now with burnout, work-life imbalance, and not feeling valued. Investing in employee well-being programs can go a long way towards creating a positive and supportive workplace, but it’s a lever to success that many companies overlook.

To fully appreciate their value, well-being programs should not be presented as a panacea to an unhealthy work environment. Instead, they should be designed to make a real impact on the day-to-day lives of employees and fit easily into the flow of work. For maximum results, managers and leaders should be encouraged to participate in well-being activities so that taking time for mental and physical health becomes part of the culture.

Incorporating employee well-being into your learning & development strategy will result in a happier and more engaged workforce. Read on for our expert recommendations on how to do it seamlessly and effectively.

Psychological Safety is a key component towards well-being

In fact, it is the most straightforward way to positively transform team dynamics and establish trust among colleagues. Without it, teams will have difficulty working together and supporting each other towards common goals. Just like with any other workplace initiative, managers and leaders have an essential part to play here.

That’s why we’ve launched a new program, Build Psychological Safety, created with thought-leading content by Amy Edmondson. Amy is the Novartis Professor of Leadership and Management at Harvard Business School and is best known for her pioneering work on psychological safety, which has spawned a large body of academic research in management, healthcare, and education over the past 15 years.

This facilitated upskilling program is designed for every type of manager — junior, middle, senior, and even project managers. The goal is to empower your managers with essential leadership skills like Team Innovation, Trust Building, Feedback Management, and Team Motivation. This dynamic program is designed to achieve outcomes through cohort participation in group sessions led by a remote facilitator to promote psychological safety across your organization.

Building cohesive teams is also important

True collaboration is the result of strong connections, cooperation, and unity among team members. But this requires understanding the characteristics and dynamics that shape teams and exploring the importance of fostering diversity and inclusion to make teams stronger and more effective. Leaders can play an integral role in team cohesion if they have the skills to strengthen the connections between their team members and build accountability and trust.

Our Facilitated Upskilling program Build Cohesive Teams equips your leaders with the necessary skills to address common cohesion challenges within their teams, create a culture of accountability and trust, and nurture an inclusive workplace. Designed for Junior, Middle and Project Managers, the program was created using thought-leading content developed by eight distinguished CrossKnowledge Faculty members including Charles Handy, Jason Womack, and Amber Cabral. Remote facilitators will guide participants towards Team Building, Trust Building, Inclusive Leadership, and Vision Setting to help them create a culture of well-being that benefits everyone.

What Talent Leaders are saying about employee well-being

We recently invited Katharina Plamberger, global Talent & Development Expert at RHI Magnesita, to be a guest on The Human Advantage podcast. For over a decade, Katharina has been on a mission to create a workplace that’s not just productive but also positive, because she firmly believes that the well-being of employees is the key to sustained success. During the episode, she speaks about how to drive and support employee well-being in organizations and promote positive work culture, behavior, and moments that matter to help integrate well-being practices into the daily lives of employees.

Dr. Lydia Wazir, Talent Management & Leadership specialist, was also a guest on the podcast. She talked about the critical role of mental health in leadership amid organizational changes and the essential role leadership has in ensuring the mental health of colleagues in the workplace. Based on her experience designing and implementing comprehensive leadership development plans, she emphasizes prioritizing ethical leadership practices, resilience, and positive workplace cultures. She also gives advice to organizations navigating strategic transformations while maintaining a focus on the holistic well-being of individuals within the work environment.
