Introduction
At CrossKnowledge, we are dedicated to making our platform and content accessible to all users, regardless of physical, sensory, or cognitive challenges, to create an inclusive learning environment and provide equal opportunities for all.
We are continuously striving to enhance the accessibility of our content and platform to ensure that the broadest possible audience can benefit from our upskilling solutions.
Our journey toward accessibility began in 2019 and remains a work in progress, as we continue to align more areas of our content and platform with WCAG 2.1 standards at Levels A and AA.
Measures to support accessibility
CrossKnowledge takes the following measures to improve accessibility of its products:
- Product Strategy: Accessibility is an integral part of our Product Roadmap.
- Accessibility Implementation: We adopted a continuous improvement approach to ensure:
- Any new feature development is accessible by design (e.g. our new Programs technology or Skills recommendation engine), adhering to WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines.
- Existing features are incrementally made accessible, prioritizing our Guided Format, a.k.a Blendedx technology.
- We are continuously working to make the content in our Content catalog more accessible.
- Accessibility Training: Our Content, Product, and Engineering teams receive ongoing, expert-level training to ensure a deep understanding of accessibility principles and best practices.
- External Audits: We regularly collaborate with external accessibility experts who conduct audits to assess the accessibility of critical learner interactions and experiences.
- Automated Testing: Accessibility is integrated into our development workflow through automated testing, which is a mandatory part of our non-functional requirements.
Conformance status
Our content and platform are partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. This means that while many elements meet accessibility requirements, some areas do not fully conform yet.
Content Accessibility
- PDF content (Essentials and Action Tips): These resources are fully accessible.
- Videos (Videocasts): Currently not accessible for visually impaired users, as subtitles cannot be read by screen readers. We are actively working on solutions to make this content accessible.
- Interactive content (Sessions): These were built with a non-accessible legacy technology. We are in the process of replacing them with fully accessible alternatives.
- Training courses (Skill Paths and Paths to Performance): Some activities and content included in these courses are not fully accessible. We are working as a priority on converting these courses to fully accessible learning solutions.
Platform Accessibility
Our current focus is on providing an accessible experience for Learners, who represent the majority of our users. We are prioritizing core functionalities to ensure that Learners can fully participate in training courses built with Blendedx technology. Specifically, we plan to allow Learners to:
- Access general course information (e.g., title, duration, points)
- Be informed about the course structure, including the sequence of steps and activities
- Complete all course activities
- Track their progress and be informed when the course is completed
- Access course certificates and sharing options
We are committed to further improving accessibility across both our content and platform, ensuring a more inclusive experience for all users.
